How many laser hair removal sessions will I need?

Most of our clients plan on 6 to 8 sessions for long-term hair reduction, spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart depending on the area. The American Academy of Dermatology says most patients need 2 to 6 treatments, about once every 4 to 6 weeks; where you land depends on the area, hair colour and your growth cycle.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

No — the accurate term is long-term hair reduction. According to the AAD, most patients remain hair-free for months or even years, and the hair that does regrow is finer and less noticeable.

So we never promise “permanent”; we promise a result you’ll see from the first sessions and an honest plan to maintain it.

What happens during a session at Aime-toi?

It starts with the free consultation: we assess your skin and hair on the Fitzpatrick scale, pick the wavelength, test a small patch if needed, and estimate the number of sessions with a total price. If everything fits, your first session can often follow right away.

During the session you wear protective eyewear; your esthetician works the handpiece area by area, and the Triton’s built-in cooling limits the heat you feel. Expect a few minutes for the upper lip or underarms, about 30 minutes for the bikini area, and up to an hour and a half for full legs.

Afterwards, mild redness for a few hours is normal and you go straight back to your day — just avoid intense heat, sun and workouts for 24 to 48 hours. The treated hairs shed on their own over the following one to three weeks.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

The most common description is a quick elastic-band snap on the skin — brief and very tolerable. The Triton’s continuous cooling limits discomfort, even on sensitive areas like the upper lip or bikini, where the session only lasts a few minutes anyway.

Which areas do you treat?

Every area of the face and body, for anyone, whatever your gender. The most requested ones each have their own page: face · legs · bikini and Brazilian. Underarms ($55, a few minutes per session), back, chest, arms, buttocks and shoulders are on the price list too — men are a growing share of our clients.

What results should you expect, and when?

After the first session, treated hairs shed within one to three weeks and the area stays smooth longer than after shaving. Around the third session, regrowth turns visibly sparser and finer — that’s when most clients stop shaving between appointments. By the end of the course, the area only needs the occasional maintenance session.

Laser hair removal for men in Montreal

Men are a growing share of our clients, and their most requested areas are on the same price list as everyone else’s: full back $200, torso $150, shoulders $90, belly line $40. Laser can also define a beard line on the cheeks or clear the neck, without the daily razor irritation.

Male hair, usually thicker and darker, responds very well to laser: plan on the same 6 to 8 sessions, and the same free consultation to start.

How do I prepare for a session?

Shave the area 24 hours before, stay out of the sun and off self-tanners for at least two weeks, and no waxing or plucking for at least four weeks before treatment. The laser targets the pigment in the hair below the skin; a plucked hair can’t be treated, and tanned skin raises the risk of a reaction.

What are the possible side effects?

The most common are redness and slight swelling around the follicles for a few hours — similar to mild sunburn. That’s temporary and expected: it shows the follicle absorbed the energy.

More serious effects — burns, pigmentation changes — are rare and almost always tied to a wavelength that was wrong for the skin, or skin tanned at the time of the session. Those are exactly the two risks the consultation, the test patch and the Triton’s three wavelengths exist to avoid. Laser, waxing, shaving or electrolysis: which one?
